Dorothy Martin grew up on her family’s dairy farm east of DeWinton, attended Okotoks School and attained her Bachelor of Nursing degree at the University of Calgary. After practicing various aspects of nursing in Calgary and the Vancouver area, Dorothy came home to the Foothills where she spent the next 25 years in leadership positions in Continuing Care – ending her career as the Area Manager for the Alberta Health Services Home Care Program.

Now retired from nursing, Dorothy still lives on the land her parents farmed in DeWinton, enjoying the proximity of her extended family who all live on the original acreage as well. Her time is spent reading, practicing yoga, going on daily walks with her Australian Shepherd and enjoying being part of the lives of her three beautiful granddaughters.

Due to her involvement with palliative care as an important part of her Home Care portfolio, Dorothy is an avid supporter of hospice care. She is honored and proud to be part of the Foothills Country Hospice as it fulfills and expands its vital services to the community.
